Whether we are data modelling, or mapping work-flows, Synapse IT relies heavily on Unified Modeling Language for specifying, constructing, and documenting the artifacts of systems. UML is a general-purpose modeling language that can be used with all major object and component methods, and that can be applied to all application domains and implementation platforms.
Most systems have structure, defined by its components and their own composition, and behaviour which involves inputs, processing and outputs. The term system may also refer to a set of rules that governs structure and/or behaviour.
Medical software applications currently used in general practice are excellent for data storage and retrieval on a patient by patient basis. However, most clinical desktop programs have a limited in their capability to retrieve of data for the entire practice patient population which makes them generally too difficult to use for systematic management of patients. Effective data management is important for chronic disease management of the patient population and to claim the PIP ehealth incentive. Effective data management can assist general practices to optimise their access to the EPC.
With this in mind, Synapse IT :
- Assists with the installation, training and support of data extraction packages – may entail statistical analysis and reporting
- Assists with data cleaning
- Assists with the development of register, recall and reminder systems
Current research work undertaken includes examining the PCEHR and the development of an iOS interface to existing clinical applications in general practice.
